GPC Ballistics Applications


MERO: An application to simplify setting up a Mil-dot telescopic sight on crossbow, airgun or rimfire combos. In reality it amounts to a thinly disguised Ballistic Coefficient calculator (using the ∆POI method) which - if required - allows further utility. Help and HowTo instructions are included in the app or can be viewed/downloaded from the MERO page.

KECalc: An application to calculate Kinetic Energy at the muzzle and - given the appropriate Ballistic Coefficient and Drag Law - to estimate the velocity, kinetic energy, momentum and flight time at any point along the trajectory.

EasyBC: A Ballistic Coefficient calculator that can calculate Ballistic Coefficient valves using the POI change (∆POI), Velocity Change (∆V) or Elapsed Time (∆T) methods.

MAGCalc: A very simple application to calculate actual SFP scope magnification. This app can be used to re-calibrate the ‘zoom’ ring which - on some cheaper scopes - may be giving inaccurate and/or misleading readings.

Validate: A straightforward application to validate ballistic values. Given three of the (measured) Muzzle Velocity, Ballistic Coefficient, Zero Range and Sight Height, take a guess at the unknown parameter and the app will calculate a corrected value from a down range PoI measurement.

PCPe: An application to estimate the efficiency of a pre-charged pneumatic air rifle/pistol. This can be useful in assessing the effect of modifications to valving, etc.

These are a few ballistics applications for Windows¹, OSX² and Linux³ that I’ve written in order to test the multi-platform capabilities of the PureBasic programming language.

The images on this site are screen-shots of code compiled and executed on an elderly Apple MacBook Pro. Linux and Windows images are similar although - because of various OS restraints - generally not nearly as pretty.

Android Apps: A few ballistics-based Android applications for side-loading.
